Jewellery concepts: The dimension of Dream

Objects in diamonds and precious metals, developed by the London-based artist known as Barbarella

“This is my most ambitios art project to date. To drum up and manifest fine jewellery of this caliber- it has taken more than imagination”

The Cascade

Six diamonds drip down into an abstract assymetrical waterfall. 2 emerald-cut and 4 square cut stones.

I find great elegance in squares, and while they are substantially harder to procure and design with square-cut diamonds, I'm very insistent to make it happen.

The way to construct a square is actually from a circle: Every circle has a center. By connecting four equal points from its radius, we find the square. The square is the spiritual, manifested. Grounding. Complete support and stability. You are held, in the square.

Square shapes are associated with attributes of the number 4: The four seasons, the four cardinal points, the four elements.

The cubic stone is associated with the idea of completion and perfection- the full realisation of possibilities.

Diamonds and solid 18k White Gold

Stone details:
- 1 emerald cut diamond of 4.51 x3.33 (0.29ct)
- 1 emerald cut diamond of 4 x 3 (0.20ct)
- 3 princess cut diamonds of 2.7 x 2.7mm (0.13ct)
- 1 princess cut diamond of 2 x 2mm (0.06ct)

The squaring of the circle is to make the passage from the earthly to the divine. It is the visible and the invisible. In the Middle Ages, this was a secret knowledge that would give access to the celestial. It brings matter into abstraction. It's a difficult symbolic operation that many civilisations have approached.

In Hinduism, because of their majesty, waterfalls serve as a bathing place for gods and celestial beings who frequent them.

Diamonds for your throat

Known as the stone of invincibility, the name Diamond comes from the Greek word adamas, meaning invincible. In Buddhism, the Diamond is the symbol of penetrating insight. In the Diamond Sutra, Buddha teaches the way to ‘cut through’ delusion and find a durable truth. In ancient times, they were used to counteract poison. The diamond is the ultimate talisman. Get them raw.

Handmade in London

Every piece is one of a kind, every stone has been handpicked for its peculiar beauty and power. I’m interested in the drama of it all.

The yellow diamond

The first yellow diamond was discovered in 1867. Honoring this date, I’ve sourced a diamond of 0.67 carats exactly. Extremely rare, there is only 1 carat of yellow diamonds in 10.000.

This yellow stone is the colour of the bright days of early summer, the coming of the sun. Yellow satisfies a need for warmth.

The color of journeys beginning well, of sunny optimism. It ensures good starts, good communication and give you the power of heightened awareness, and knowledge of your surroundings and the subtle nuances coming from others.

Encased in 18k yellow gold and flanked by a tubular solid platinum band. Threaded by white diamonds.

I’ve been particularly interested in making the metal thick and substantial.

Energetically, Platinum aligns and enhances the entire chakra system, linking one to the etheric chakras. Through this link, one may access cosmic attunement and draw cosmic energy into the physical body. Platinum resonates on the frequencies of multiple dimensions and allows for interdimensional travel.

Diamonds carry a high-frequency energy that stimulate especially the Crown and Etheric Chakras.

The Crown Chakra is our gateway to the expanded universe beyond our bodies. It controls how we think, and how we respond to the world around us. It is the fountainhead of our beliefs. It connects us to the higher planes of existence.

Etheric Chakras are above the head and are attuned to higher, more enlightened things. They embody true humility and provide self-illumination, and a cosmic doorway to other worlds. Diamonds in particular identify with the immortal part of the self.

Romanticism! (...) It is the star that weeps, it is the wind that wails, it is the night that shivers, the flower that flies and the perfumed bird; it is the unexpected cast, lazy ecstasy, the cistern under the palm trees, vermilion hope and its thousand loves, the angel and the pearl.

- Charles Baudelaire, on Romanticism

The pearl

A single 7mm Akoya pearl mounted in platinum. A sensual choker.

I've chosen these pearls for their quality and color: A heavenly white with pink luminescence.

A celeste blue sapphire encased in solid 18k Rose Gold and pink diamonds hanging from a white diamond-encrusted beil. The casing is tapered at the back and evokes the profile of a spaceship. Rear window that signifies an entrance, a portal.

The Cross

The tau cross was initially used among the pagans. It was later adopted by the Christians in Egypt where its use became common. For this reason, the tau cross is sometimes referred to as the Egyptian cross.

Evidence of the use of the cross centuries before the coming of Christ can be seen in British Museum on the effigy of King Samsi-Vul of Assyria. Besides, goddess Diana of the ancient Greeks is portrayed with a cross in a way that resembles how Virgin Mary is portrayed in statues by artists.

I wanted this object to be substantial, with diamonds up to the edges, precisely square, smooth like a swimming pool with a mirror shine. We did the impossible to join the stones in an invisible setting with a floating central diamond.

Engineered to sway to the sides but never turn around while being worn. But turn it around, and the back has been crafted with equal care and features six square windows that illuminate the stones.

Solid platinum and marron diamond that sparkles in volcanic colours.
